I have admired this pretty old house in Cherry Valley for many years. Its veranda corbels, especially, catch my eye. It might be twisty and old, but it clearly has a story to keep telling. The “switches” (as my mother calls them) are a common field and ditch weed, yet beautiful when the frost grips them, turning them into clusters of orange and red. I chose to create more warmth on the house using raw sienna to suggest the rays of sunset on its face.
