Taste of Summer

Watercolour
Sold

As a child, during the hot summer weeks on P.E.I., my mother would send me out to my grandfather’s field to pick a bowl full of strawberries for my lunch.  She would add Carnation Evaporated Milk and two teaspoons of sugar. It was a very memorable experience for me….the colour, the taste, the smell, the acts  of picking and stemming, and the care.  Every year, it is a delight to buy the early berries as soon as the U-Pick signs are up! I imagine that this delight is something that we have in common.  I hope that you enjoy this painting, and the memories that it elicits!
